Zzzzzzz....

I'm really sleepy today.  I'm doing my coffee now but I'll be having my green monster within the hour so that should help!  I had a hard time getting out of bed this morning.

All that said...I LOVE this new life!  I am so happy with the choices I'm making.  I feel like a new woman!  This morning I woke up down a lb from yesterday and I loved week 4 of C25k last night!  I'm really starting to see how I'll be able to run three miles at the end of this.  I was even thinking about running on my way in the work this morning.  I feel GREAT!

I did end up making fish/rice AND broccoli soup last night.  The boys KILLED the broccoli soup (even Dominic).  I brought left over fish and a little soup for myself today for lunch.  Along with my standard bfast and snacks.  Tonight is fend for yourself.  I pulled some left over beef stew out of the freezer for DJ, the boys will prob have broccoli soup and/or grilled cheese and I'm going to have a salad and soup (maybe)

I miss Roni from http://www.greenlitebites.com/.  She just had a baby and hasn't posted a whole lot since St. Patty's day.  I hope she is up to getting back to it soon :)  Her ideas are GREAT!

Today is going to be crazy here at work...time to get to it!  TTFN

Coffee

Hmmmmm...I love my coffee.  April definitely runs on Dunkin :)

So last night at Aerobics...true to form she kicked our butts!!  It feels really good.  I would go to aerobics every night if I could.  Last night for dinner I munched on a veg burger (which are starting to get boring) but I didn't finish it...so I had 2 taco shells with a little cheese, salsa and sour cream (yum).

Food today is pretty standard...I'm going to have my gmonster/english muffin bfast, I have my snacks, I brought some noodle soup and a salad (bluecheese/sunflower seeds/rasp dressing).  Dinner tonight will probably be fish or I might make broccoli soup.  Luckily today is my early out day (a little) and I can get home and C25k before Mason gets off the bus.  Then I AM CLEANING MY KITCHEN!  It is driving me crazy!!!  I don't know how working mom's do this...ugg!!!

I have made the conscious decision to NOT go to Baby Lucas' funeral on Friday.  I just can't bring myself to do it.  I feel guilty and selfish for my decision but in the end I'm glad to not be going.

C25k

I didn't even mention that I C25ked all weekend :)  I did week 3 again instead of starting week 4 last Wednesday.  I think it was a good decision because I can start week 4 this week and feel good about changing it up.  Week 4 will consist of a brisk 5 min walk then 5 minutes jogging, walk for 2.5 mins., jog for 3 minutes, walk for 90 seconds, jog for 5 minutes.  UGG!!  This is why I held off on Week 4 but time to get on the ball...tomorrow :)

Tonight however, I have Aerobics :)  Can't wait!!  I'm ready for some core work.  I hope she kicks our butts!

Monday...:p

I usually don't mind Monday's that much but yesterday was a different story.  I'm so overwhelmed by a choice I have to make.  Do I go to the funeral for baby Lucas or do I not??  I'm not sure if I can handle it.  But then I feel guilty if I don't go :(  I'll figure it out but I'm super stressed about it.  Then on top of that I'm SO OVERWHELMED with my work.  I have GOT TO FINISH this AAP and import (blah blah blah)...I'm just so swamped!

Regarding food?!?  I made the most delicious pizza last night with blue cheese, caramelized onions, spinach, and basil.  YUM (picture below)  The other half is for the boys :)

Tuesday (today) is my weigh in day...I'm down 2 lbs from last week; WOOT!  That is my plan (2lbs a week)...if I can keep up the good work, we'll get there :)

Today is my standard, eng muff, gmonster, coffee, snacks, veg burger and salad.  My current salad consists of blue cheese (DH found reduced fat blue cheese - YUM), a few sunflower seeds and greens with raspberry walnut (FF) dressing.  Tonight is TACO night and I'll probably just have another veg burger or maybe some soup.  I have Aerobics tonight so that should be fun but I also have a dental appointment at 4p for a cleaning, BOO!

Guess I should get some work done, :)  TTFN

Chillin

We had a pretty busy day yesterday...we helped Mom and Dad clear out their garage then I went with Livie, to the Meet Henry party.  Henry is the new baby of my BFF, Amber.  He is four weeks old and the cutest little thing...he only weighs 8lbs.  Anyway...after we got home from this, Mason and I went shopping then we all went to church.  Then we grabbed subway on the way home.

At Subway I got the veggie sub (Honey Wheat bread, Swiss Cheese, Lettuce, Tomato, Banana Peppers, Pickles, Green Peppers, Cucumbers, EXTRA sweet peppers, O&V, S&P an a little lite mayo).  I did eat a 12inch and it was YUMMY!  I had my standard breakfast with gmonster.  I even packed a veg burger to take to mom's.  I ate that for lunch then a little fruit at the party.  The pineapple was yummy!!!  Then I had a pita before Mason and I went shopping then the veg sub.  Ooooo then I had a ice cream cone from McD!  3 points and delish!

This morning I made whole wheat pancakes.  It amazes me how easily the boys just trust my healthy changes.  Lets face it, whole wheat flour tastes ALOT different than regular flour.  The pancakes were yummy and nutty tasting.  I added some blueberries too :)  Then I made a gmonster for DJ and I.  I spilled mine :(  I'll just make another one a little later today.  Lunch/Dinner today will be soup/salad.  I'm going to make a chicken noodle with corn soup.

On a very sad note...Lucas went to heaven on Friday afternoon.  I was having a pretty hard time with this little babies struggle, but I'm doing better today.

Boo, I have ALOT of work to do today...time to get started!

Had better weeks!

Regarding "Fit Floyd" I'm good; but emotionally and weather wise, I'm struggling!  Last week we were really blessed with BEAUTIFUL weather.  Mason wore shorts to school last Thursday and it was almost 80 degrees.  However, this morning when I woke up, it was 29 degrees!!!!!!  OMG!  I need spring to make a come back - NOW!

Emotionally, I'm dealing with a very sweet baby who is being removed from life support today.  If he can't sustain his own breathing and heart, the family has decided to let him go.  Lucas is a baby who was born within a week or so of Livie's birthday.  I met his mom (virtually), when we were both preggo on a Babycenter Birth Board.  She discovered the problems with his heart at her 20 week ultrasound but when he was born he came home within a few days and lived at home for a long while, without complications.  Around his 3rd month, he started with surgeries and has had a roller coaster battle since.  My prayers and heart are with this family as they struggle with this trial.  I also squeeze my little princess every night realizing just how very blessed I am!  I've had a very difficult time dealing with this little baby's battle.  I think about him almost constantly!  I hope for a positive outcome today <3

Food wise, I had an OK day yesterday.  I had my standard breakfast and we ordered out from Jason's Deli (yum) I had a salad with apples, grapes, dried fruit, feta and nuts...pretty yummy but probably way more calories then I usually eat at lunch.  For dinner I had 1/2 a hummus pita (dang other half got stuck in the toaster!) before aerobics.  Then when I got home, I had a veg burger.  I refused to do what I'd done to myself on Wednesday night - go to bed HUNGRY!  Wednesday was a light eating day for me and I think I was at least 400 calories short of my daily target.  Then I C25Ked and by the time I realized I needed to eat more it was 8pm and I have a strict rule about eating after 7p.  Anyway...I decided when I got home from Aerobics at 7:30 last night that I'd done the same thing but I didn't suck it up...I ate a Veg Burger.

It is official, I will only be doing aerobics once a week...Thursday will be t-ball practice :)  I'll be sure to C25k on Thursday's though!

Today for lunch is a veg burger and dinner tonight will probably be a salad or soup from a restaurant...we're gonna eat out :)  Probably at Burtucci's or Il Forno.

Prayers for Baby Lucas!

FYI - Livie Lou is 7 months old today!  I can't believe it!!!!

I Heart Hungry-Girl

I just really love all the recipes and ideas she inspires.  She is a great writer and very funny! (http://www.hungry-girl.com/).  I just got her 200 recipes under 200 calories cook book last week in the mail and I'm on the waiting list for her 300 under 300 book sometime next month!!!  I <3 Hungry Girl!!!

So on to me!!!  Aerobics Kicked my BUTT last night.  It was really good.  We did jumping jacks (I hate jumping jacks for the whole...when I go up, it goes down reasoning).  But I did them...then she kicked our butts with resistance bands, sit-ups and push ups!!! OMG!

Lunch today...I'm mixing it up!  I was given the wonderful idea of Hummus on Pita!!!  I LOVE Hummus so it makes sense that on this veg diet thing...I eat it!  It is high in fiber and protein!  I made a pita sandwich with hummus, cucumbers, tomatoes and greens.  I forgot my soup (still eating the broc. soup that I froze a few weeks ago) but luckily I'm at TAB today so I will just stop down stairs for a little supplement to my sammie.

Dinner tonight??!  Good Question!  I am thinking about making a pesto pizza for me/dj and a regular pizza for the boys.  I may also decide to use the pesto for my salmon, not sure what I wanna do yet.  Why pesto?  Well you can't find small bunches of basil and since I have a brown thumb, I can't grow basil.  When I buy basil I have to buy a BIG BUNCH and it almost always goes bad.  I used basil in my shrimp pasta recipe from Sunday.  I then realized (with the help of Amy) that I could make Pesto.  I have TONS of spinach from my green monsters...and I bought pine nuts yesterday so I'm just gonna make some pesto in my bullet and voila!  Now that I think of it, pesto pasta sounds good.  I've been trying to shy away from pasta and I've already had it 2 times in the last 5 days so I'm not sure what I'm gonna do about it...but something.  Maybe I'll just make some herb crusted Salmon. OOO,  That is even better than the pesto b/c it won't have as many calories!!!  See what happens when I type?  I brain storm!  I know I'm a mess!!!

Picture of me today fuzzy...sorry (to document my size):

Well off to get some work done...TTFN

So I did it!!!

I caloried out my whole weekend and I was only over by about 600 calories on Saturday and about 300 under on Sunday.  So all in all...not too bad!  It worked out too b/c I lost a solid 2lbs from last Tuesday!

Last night I made YUMMY almond crusted tilapia with brown rice and greens with raspberry vinaigrette.  It was really delicious and I brought that for lunch again today.  I'll have my standard breakfast (gmonster and eng muffin with veg sausage) but I've also re-introduced coffee into my morning.  Not because I need it (although I probably do) but because I LOVE the taste of it.  Where I used to drink 40oz by 10am...I'm now only having 16ozs.  Tonight for dinner is Taco night...no taco's for mama so I'll be having the last of the shrimp pasta from Sunday :)

I am just LOVING this new me!  I hope she stays around awhile:)

Some boo news?!  T-Ball practice may interfere with Thursday night aerobics...I really LOVE this class but that is OK...I will still go on Tuesday and I will just C25k on Thursday instead of aerobics!

Diane...her name is Diane

my aerobics instructor...her name isn't Lisa it is Diane!  LOL

So this weekend was FUN but CRAZY on the healthy April, Clean Eating bandwagon.  Saturday, I had my gmonster and english muffin w/ veggie sausage.  Then for lunch we went to Chipotle, I got a veggie bowl with rice, black beans, pinto beans, corn salsa, tomato salsa, sour cream, a little cheese and grac.  I ate the whole thing and I was STUFFED!  Then we drank beer...and drank beer...and drank beer!!!  I probably had 6...so this is about 600 calories.  Then for dinner we went to a great little Italian place (at 8pm, yikes) I got angle hair with marinara and it was good until the 2nd time around.  I ATE WAY TOO MUCH, because I wasn't thinking clearly...I could have stopped about a third of the way through the enormous bowl of pasta - BUT I DIDN'T!

Yesterday, I did a little better...we went to Mom and Dads and I was actually feeling up to eating so I had a little of the breakfast casserole (I picked out the bacon).  It was hashbrowns, egg, cheese, and yumminess!  then I had a coffee with cream.  We didn't eat lunch so I green monstered.  Then for dinner, I made a delicious shrimp pasta (recipe below).  Killed that and had a few triscuits as a snack.

1lb angle hair pasta
2 tbsp EVOO
7 cloves of fresh garlic, minced
1/3 C White Wine
1 C. Chicken Stock
Large Can diced tomatoes
1 large back of colossal sized , raw, deveined shrimp
2 lemons
Fresh Basil
Parm cheese

Prepare pasta according to directions.  In large skillet, saute garlic in EVOO.  When golden add white wine and reduce by half.  Add stock and tomatoes with juice from can.  bring to a boil and add shrimp.  Cook until shrimp are pink then add fresh chopped basil, zest from 1 lemon and juice of 2 lemons.  Toss Pasta in sauce and garnish with extra basil and parm cheese.  ENJOY!
I did C25k Saturday morning and Sunday night - YAY ME!  I'm on Week 3-3 minutes running/3 minutes walking then 1.5 min. running/1.5 min. walking- WHOLE THING TWICE.  This is a little more nuts...and my knees are KILLING ME!  My poor knees are like WTH?!  Why are you trying to do this to us with all this extra weight.  I've tried telling them that if they can cooperate a little longer, then the weight will be less and they'll like me more!  (I know I'm nuts)

I am SO GLAD it is Monday!  I am thrilled to be back to my routine.  I happily made my gmonster in the blender cup this morning with my eng muffin, then packed my apple, triscuits and cheese.  I packed some left over yummy shrimp pasta, and a small salad.  Happy April.  I'm going to make some fish tonight for me and DJ and the boys are gonna have the leftover shrimp pasta (Which they KILLED last night...new food they love).  I'll C25K tonight and maybe take an extra little walk with the boys if the rain holds out!

I think I'm going to calorie out my whole weekend just to see how I did (curiousity killed the cat) :)

Today!

Today I woke up at 225lbs...wholly moly!!!  I'm melting away, LOL.  I plan to do week 3, day 2 of C25k tonight when I get home.  Not sure what we're gonna do for dinner...we had green pancakes last night made with whole wheat flour, they were really yummy and even the boys liked them.

Today I've had:
English Muffin Sandwich with veg sausage and lf cheese
Gmonster
Triscuits and Cheese
Salad with Asian Dressing
Broc and Cheese Soup (frozen from batch I made last week)
some of Grace's Guac and Chips

I'm stuffed!!

Dinner will likely be fish of some sort and I think we'll go out for ice cream (for the boys, I think I'll just have a lick or two)

I'm getting my hair did tomorrow morning then out with Mel/DJ/others for St. Patty, Meet in the street!  Can't wait!!!  I know there will be ALOT of beer...hopefully that won't sabotage my huge progress this week. We shall see!!! :)

Póg mo thóin!

Top of the Morning to ye and Happy St. Patty's Day!!!

What is the purpose of frisee lettuce??  It is just YUCKY and I hate that the lettuce mix people think it needs to be in every mix!!!  So now that we're off that topic...I CAN'T WAIT FOR Saturday!!!  We are going to Canton for Meet in the Street for their St. Patty celebration!  Mel is even coming down from Connecticut and I can't wait to see her!  It should be a blast and I'm happy to say that if I stay down 4lbs from this week...I'll be happy to indulge (a little) and if by next week I'm only down 1lb...that's fine by me!

Enjoy the green!!!

Watermelon

Mmmmmm...I'm really looking forward to summer.  I just had a little out of season watermelon and it was really yummy!  I can't wait to get the really yummy...in season watermelon that we get during summer!

Today I woke up 2.5lbs lighter than yesterday!  WTH>?>?  OK...so maybe it was the kickA$$ workout we did last night in aerobics or the fact that I've been angelic all week with my eating but who cares?!?  I'll take it!  Maybe it isn't even real weight loss...I don't care!  I am going to hit my goal come hell or high water!

If we are counting down to Ireland (June 20th)...I have 27.5 lbs to go to my goal weight for the trip.  After that I still have ALOT I wanna lose!  Since my 8 week check up after Livie(approx Oct, 2010)...I've lost about 27lbs.  I've lost 15.5 of that since January1, 2011!

I can do this...

Black Bean Burgers

are suprisingly good!  I am really enjoying it right now for lunch!!!  I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about it but they are really yummy!

I am having a stellar day!  I've been so busy I have fogotten to eat my morning snacks.  This is crazy because I usually count down the seconds to each snack.  I am eating lunch now and that jsut means I have more afternoon snacks - LOL

GAS PRICES are crazy right now!  Holy Moly - Peace in the Middle East, please :)

It goes up when I go down

so running is interesting when you are as big as I am :)  When I first started running I didn't wear tight enough clothes and noticed that every time I would start to run...something was following me.  LOL - of course it was my derriere, badunkadunk, junk, booty, tush (whatever you wanna call it!)  So I've learned to wear more tight fitting pants and just work out my rhythm so that when I go up it goes down...

Today I'm feel pretty crappy (stinks to be a woman sometimes) I didn't run yesterday b/c I just knew it would be horrible so today I MUST RUN!  I will do so after dinner.  Luckily with day light savings I have even more time into the evening to run before it gets dark.  I'm a big baby. I'm scared to run in the dark by myself...it's creepy and I always think someone is following me.  I haven't used it as an excuse but now I won't even have to worry about it...thank you sunshine!!!

For lunch today, I'm going out to eat with my baby sis.  She is never in my neck of the woods and she is today so we're going to panera.  I HAVE NO IDEA WHAT I'M GOING TO EAT!!!  I always panic when faced with eating out, then I do my research and feel better...(timeout) Research done...for 400 calories I can either have the Thai Salad (no chix) and Veg Soup (you pick 2) or I can do the Garden Salad with a scoop of Tuna Salad...hmmm, I'm not sure which I'll get but now I'm excited about lunch and it is still 2 hours away :(

This veg thing is really difficult because although I'm cooking veg for me...I still have to cook meat for the boys.  Tonight they are having beef stew....but me....I'm having my leftover crab cake from yesterday.  So this is a WIN WIN!  Yesterday I wanted a crab cake REALLY badly and my DH went to get me one.  God, I love that man!!!  Fallston Seafood crab cakes ROCK!

Bandannas

My Bandannas!  I love my bandannas...with this crazy hair, I have no choice.  If they look funky...who cares?!?

I'm having a rough day...I want to get motivated to run but I'm not feeling so hot today.  Livie and I napped for 3 hours today.  It felt good to have a lazy Sunday!!

Food has been a little lite today:
My Eng Muff/Veg Sausage sandwich
Green Monster
some mixed nuts
A salad and a little cheese sandwich (in the microwave)

I'm gonna get my butt moving...and run!!  Come one motivation

Dinner tonight will be a hodge podge...I'm going to make some fish for me and some pasta for the boys.

Tsunami

Today I'm just overwhelmed by the news of this Tsunami...it is so overwhelming to see what has happened in Japan.  I'm happy that Hawaii appears to be spared but am now concerned about the US West Coast!  I'll be happy when this afternoon comes and we're aware of all the damages and know it is over...it is kind of still happening now.

So on to food...I brought my standard lunch with veg burger but subbed some broccoli soup from last night instead of my usual salad.  I just had the soup...yum (YES IT IS ONLY 10:47am)...I was hungry!  It was really yummy and I'm not going to feel guilty AT ALL about the velvetta "Cheese Food".

Dinner Dinner Dinner...I don't know!!  I think I may just let the boys get a pizza and I'll have a salad or something.  I don't want to worry about it.

Can you tell I'm a little depressed?  I have a hard time with natural disasters and today is a big one.  I think I have a hard time with the helplessness I feel.

Broccoli and Aerobics

Let me just suggest that if you ever eat Cream of Broccoli soup...pass on Aerobics!  Although, I'm pretty sure it was pretty hilarious to watch me trying to hold in toots while working out on a balance ball.

On that topic I loved working out on the balance ball.  This was my first experience and I really enjoyed it.  I could even do a good plank on the ball note: I can't do a standard plank to save my life.  Because of the rain (3+ inches) we only had about 10 ladies at aerobics compared to the normal group of 30+.  That was nice b/c it was more personal and fun.  I really enjoy our instructor (although I can't remember her name for the life of me)...we will call her "Lisa" because she looks like a Lisa to me.  She pushes me just enough to make me try something I feel I can't do.  I plan to continue with this program as long as possible.  $40 for 10 weeks is a bargain based on the fact that we get together 2 times a week and it isn't a joke class.  It is serious and I'm sweating within 5 minutes and leave with most of my muscles aching, a good ache.

Tonight for dinner I concocted some broccoli cheese soup.  Mostly b/c it is the best way to get my boys to eat broccoli.  It was pretty yummy. Brief Recipe Below:

Ingredients:
  • 2 tbsp EVOO
  • 1/2 yellow onion, chopped
  • large bag of frozen broccoli florets
  • vegetable stock
  • one small brick of light Velveeta (I know processed but so YUM) and the only thing with any real calories in this whole recipe
  • one can of 98% fat free cream of celery soup
I softened the onions in the EVOO then added the broccoli to the pot.  Cover the broccoli with stock and bring to a boil, cover and simmer for 10 minutes.  Add the cheese and soup, until melted.  Using stick blender, I buzzed it for a bit to break up the broccoli.  Then simmer for 5 minutes and serve.  YUMMM!

That was dinner tonight...I have no idea what we'll have tomorrow and this is a big deal b/c I always know what is for dinner at least 2 days in advance.  We shall see...I'll be better planned next week...I just decided this vegetarian thing yesterday so I didn't plan as well as I normally would.

TTFN...time for bed!

Damn Peanuts!

The peanuts I mentioned that Grace has to hide from me...This is for a very good reason.  I just had 2 servings and only because I'd totally forgotten they were there and when I remembered them b/c I blogged about them this morning...now I can't wait for them to be gone!  They are just so yummy...but so bad if you cant' control consumption.  DAMN PEANUTS!

Gala Apples

oh Gala apples, how I love thee...let me count the ways:
  1. you are so sweet
  2. you are little
  3. your skin is not tough or yucky
  4. my kids love you
  5. you are a great quick snack
  6. you make me feel full
  7. you fit in my purse without getting bruised
  8. you are really yummy with some PB or cheese
  9. you make me feel happy!
LOL...just for a giggle.  I just enjoyed one and realized how much I LOVE these little Pommes!

My routine...

I am definitely a creature of habit!  I will open my mind to just about anything but if I've got a routine that is working for me...I'll stick to it.  The most important thing for me to maintain a routine is to enjoy it!  I currently work a crazy schedule.  I wake up at 4:30am and I'm at work by 6am.  When I wake up, I take my shower, do my hair, get dressed then head downstairs to pack lunches.  I try to help my amazing husband as much as possible with getting our little ones out the door but he has far more time in the morning and likes to refer to himself as SuperDad, so he can have that.

So what does April eat currently?
Right now I'm obsessed with English Muffin Sandwiches.  I buy the light english muffins (100 cal), whole grain variety.  So I pack an English muffin, a half piece of low fat cheese and (since I'm vegetarian through lent) a morningstar veggie sausage (I'm not loving all the additives but I havent' found a veg sausage patty that I like more).  note: let's face it...if it doesn't taste good we're not gonna enjoy eating it and if you're like me and food is all you think about, enjoying it is VERY IMPORTANT! OK back to my lunch box.  So in addition to my English muffin sandwich fixings, I prep my Green Monster.  I have a magic bullet blender thing (a b-day gift from my mom...just for my gmonsters:)), in my large bullet cup I pour 8 ozs of unsweetened vanilla Almond Breeze almond milk, a handful of frozen blueberries, 1/2 frozen banana and 2 cups of spinach.  I used to add protein powder but I decided that I wanted to eat my protein (hence the english muffin sandwich), I put the lid on my blender cup and throw it in my lunch bag (I have the power base at work).  So that is breakfast...for snacks I am currently on a triscuit kick. So I pack 7 triscuits (serving size) and 1 oz of Cabot Sharp Cheddar -75% reduced fat, an apple, and a koshi golean granola bar.  For lunch I have to have at least 2 major items (bizarre I know).  Since I'm doing the veg thing...I have packed a Boca grilled veg burger, sandwich flat and the other half slice of low fat cheese AND a small salad that consists of lettuce mix, a little light Asian dressing and a big pinch of Chinese crunchy noodles.  Oh and don't forget my one caffeine treat of the day, my diet Pepsi.  I keep some goodies at work, just in case...like smart pop mini bags of microwave popcorn and dry roasted nuts (that Grace, co-worker/friend, has to hide from me).

So timing...when does April eat this stuff??
I try to consume 90% of my calories before 4pm each day.  So I drink my gmonster around 7am, then my eng muffin sandwich around 8:30a, around 9:30 I'm hungry again so I have my cheese & crackers...around 10 I have my apple and that will hold me until lunch around 11:30.  I know you're saying that I eat ALOT in the morning...but that is the best way I've found to keep my metabolism working efficiently.  So around 11:30 I'll have my salad and around 12 I'll fix up my garden burger.  I'm usually good at this point until around 2p when I will often have the granola bar or break out the popcorn.  Oh and I probably drink about 48 ozs of water during the day.

Dinner is always an issue b/c I have picky eaters...and I'm doing the veg thing so stay tuned for more on dinners.  I was supposed to throw beef stew in the crock pot this morning and I totally forgot (not like I was gonna eat it anyway) but I do have to think of my men.

So that is food...what about exercise?
On Tuesday and Thursday I go to aerobics from 6:30 to 7:30 and every other day of the week, I do C25K by 6pm (at least until daylight savings time...I hate to be out in the dark by myself).

During the weekends this all gets mucked up...but we'll visit that in a different post...

Once upon a time...

I thought this would be a great way to start my story/journal.  The purpose of this blog is for me to journal my progress and track what is working and what isn't.  I would say this new "April" started around February 1, 2011.  If others are inspired by lil ole me??  Then that is just a bonus!

My Goals??
  • Get back into my size 10 pants
  • Get down to 150lbs
  • Enjoy a healthy self esteem as an example for my beautiful baby girl
  • Run a 5K
  • (maybe) participate in a triathlon
  • Continue a healthy lifestyle for the rest of my life

How have I gotten started??
The first week in February I did 5 days of a "cleanse"...part of the Suddenly Slim program, I cut out most carbohydrates and seriously cut my daily intake of calories.  I lost 6lbs during these few days and I know most of it was water...the purpose was more for me to jump start my motivation then to actually lose weight.  IT WORKED!  The next week I was introduced to the Green Monster.  This alone has attributed to a huge increase in energy for me!  My Green Monster is a combination of unsweetened vanilla almond milk, blueberries, banana and about 2 cups of spinach...blended to perfection!!!  I have a green monster EVERY morning!  In addition to the Green Monster I have adjusted my eating drastically.  If I'm being honest...I had an awful diet before I made this commitment to myself.  I would think nothing of eating fast food and could probably eat a whole pizza without even thinking about it.  The worst part is that I was a closet eater.  I never serve this crap to my family so why am I eating it myself??  In addition to that...I was a couch potato!  I have 3 beautiful healthy babies (6 - Mason, 4 - Dominic and 6 months - Olivia) and I want them to have a healthy happy Mommy...not the grumpy, lazy Mommy!

This time I'm not "dieting" per say.  I've changed the way I look at and think about food.  I eat when I'm hungry, only whole grains, fruit, veggies and lean proteins.  I eat about 5 small meals a day and most of them before 5pm.  I try not to eat at night.  I drink a TON of water and I DON'T deprive myself.  If there is something I want to enjoy, I do (in moderation).  I LOVE FOOD.  This is part of my problem...I'm not partial or picky at all!  I love pretty much EVERY FOOD THAT GOD CREATED!  The great news is that although I've always raised my kids will healthy habits, this new way of cooking and shopping just reinforces it.

Next step after changing my food was to think about getting active.  This is when I decided to join an aerobics class with Bel Air Rec.  We meet Tuesday and Thursday for a hour.  This was my foray into exercise.  After 3 C-Sections...my muscles are seriously out of shape.  The aerobics class was just enough to get me started.  March 2nd...I decided to start C25K (Couch to 5K).  This is a walking/running program that can train you to go from...no exercise to running a 5K in just 2 months.  This has worked for alot of people really close to me.  I've planned to participate in a 5K in the beginning of June with my husband and his family.  We shall see how this goes...I don't like to over promise to anyone, including myself.

So TODAY...
Today I completed day 7 of C25K and since it is Ash Wednesday...I decided to give up meat for lent and see how the vegetarian lifestyle treats me.  To date...I have lost 13lbs and 6 inches but I've gained ALOT MORE.  In addition to the energy I mentioned, I'm happier, I'm a better mom, I have a better marriage, and just feel better then I have in 11 years (for more on my struggles read About Me).
