Hiatus

Fit Floyd will be on hiatus for a bit :)  I'm swamped with life right now...still doing GREAT with clean eating and my boot camp class 3 times a week.  Terri and I have started walking again...which is also great!

Life is good...just busy

My Back...My Neck...


I'm feeling like an old lady...LOL  After class on Wednesday I noticed alot of pain in my lower left side of my back.  I noticed by Wednesday night that I had a big knot in the muscle tissue back there...OUCH!!!  It got worse yesterday and this morning was really really painful!!!!  I thought perhaps a stretch would help but Alicia (trainer extraordinaire) said to leave it be!!!  Take come Advil and ice it down. 







On the way to run a quick errand this morning I called hubby and he suggested an Icy Hot Patch!!! OMG...I'm in heaven!  this thing feels so good on my sore little back :)  Shaq agrees - LOL  That said, the workout this morning was kick ass!!  I think lowering myself into chairs and to sit on the toilet are going to be difficult today and tomorrow.  I really enjoy my class :)




Clean Eating is going really well too!!!  I haven't indulged in any sweets and the only way I've cheated was via a few packets of artificial sweetener over the last few days...but COME ON-I need something to sweeten up my life.  I wonder how I will feel about sugar next week when this is over?

My smoothie yesterday was interesting :)
Plain Greek Yogurt, strawberries, banana, oranges, skim milk and a drizzle of honey.

I definitely prefer to have it with Almond Milk or Vanilla yogurt but this wasn't bad and was packed with protein :)

The challenge for my little strategy will be tonight!  Tonight I have the girls coming over for book club at my house.  We are discussing Sarah's Key (GREAT BOOK) and everyone is bringing a dessert and drink.  I will have ONE skinny tea vodka with crystal lite lemonade (off the clean eating list but I have to have at least one drink) and I'm making Fruit tarts that aren't at all healthy but oh well.  I'll make sure I reserve some fruit for eating (since I won't be eating the tarts :)

10 Day Challenge

Day 3 of the Clean Eating Challenge!!!
Yesterday was a GREAT clean eating day!!!
Hot Sauce not ketchup on my eggs
 just balsamic vinegar on my salad
 Hummus with Veggies and wheat thins for snack (there was some fruit in there too)
Damn it April Floyd!!!!  No more Wheat Thins b/c the 3rd ingredient is sugar :(  DAMN!!! 
Time to switch to Triscuits

 Dinner was turkey sausage, with whole wheat pasta and my sauce (crushed tomatoes/green peppers/onions/garlic and basil).  Mmmmm
Alright this challenge is going really well...I didn't weigh myself this morning and I think I'll hold off until Friday morning.  I want to stay as motivated as possible and I know I can do it!!!

As you know I do my boot camp on Monday, Wednesday and Friday each week, I need something on Tuesday and Thursday so I txt Terri last night and we hit the road for a few miles.  It was really nice and I think a great way to balance out the rest of my week.  The trouble will be Thursdays because my boys both have soccer practice and it won't end until around 7/730...I know I can count on Terri, no matter what time so hopefully we can swing it.  I may have to cave and join Planet Fitness so I can still work out even in the winter on Tue/Thur and Sunday.  I'm taking Saturday off :)

Alright...Today is going to be a crazy day!

Define Vacation

An extended period of recreation, esp. one spent away from home or in traveling.

Boy did I need one of those :)  We had a wonderful vacation in OC Maryland with my fam...I was sad to be leaving after one week so we are considering doing 2 weeks next year - WOOT!





As you can see we had GREAT weather and a great week!!!
Rocky was happy to be home too :)  He must have played hard because he has slept alot since we picked up him from the kennel :)

Yesterday was back to the grind...back to work...back to Boot Camp...back to reality :)
It was a great class and a great day!!

I've started a 10 day clean eating challenge.  It means no sugar, no alcohol and all natural foods.  I had egg whites with potatoes and spinach for breakfast.  Guess who didn't have ketchup on her eggs yesterday?!?!  ME!!!  I used hot sauce instead.  WHY?  Ketchup is packed with sugar where hot sauce is just peppers, vinegar, S&P

A salad with veggies, chicken and balsamic vinegar as the dressing (that is right no vinaigrette - WHY?  b/c vinaigrette is loaded with oil, sugar and additives)
 Strawberries for a snack (there was a banana with natural PB in there somewhere too)
 Dinner was ground taco meat with brown rice, salsa and a dab of plain greek yogurt
We tried to head out to do some school shopping last night and that was a bust but I did get a Starbucks non fat cappuccino
Mmmmmm

Time for me to bust it today, I'll keep ya'll posted on my progress.
I gained a few too many lbs while on vacay and I need to get back to a reasonable number :)

Almost beach time...

TOMORROW TOMORROW TOMORROW!!!  I love ya tomorrow...you're only a day away :)

Vacation Baby...
I can't freakin wait!!!!

Today was another KILLER Bootcamp class but I made it through and I'm off for one week.  I can honestly say that I could barely do ONE traditional sit up when I started this 5 weeks ago...but today - I banged out 20 WITH 20lbs of weights in my hands!!!  GO APRIL!!!  I seriously was so freaking excited I couldn't stand it!!!!!  YAY!!!!!!! 

Alicia (trainer), has given me work to do everything morning on the beach, I'll do my best to make sure it happens at least 3 times :)

Yesterday was a GREAT DAY!  Lunch was out at a Mexican restaurant with some vendors/friends.  I had fish tacos and it was just the right portion and not I'm sure it was actually pretty healthy :)
Dinner was at Chick Fil A...because we were go go go all night and I got out of work late :)  DJ had soccer practice with Dom and Mason, I had an eye doctor appointment with Livie and I just didn't plan dinner...but the good news is that we have a new Chick Fil A in Forest Hill and IT ROCKS!  I treated myself to 5 chicken nuggets with Polynesian sauce and 2 waffle fries :)

Death by Boot Camp

April M Floyd (Bossle), Manager of Benefits at Under Armour, Inc.  died Wednesday of complications inflicted by her Trainer during her semi-weekly boot camp class.  Homicide is being considered.  She was 34.

She tried to kill us again today :)
We did 20 reps of Burpees, push ups, sit-ups, up down planks, squat/jumps, side planks, prison squats, reverse flys and some other stuff that I'm in too much pain to remember.  Then in between our sets we had to run/sprint/jump/lunge/or backward jog 50 meters (ish)...then we had to do the whole thing again in 12 rep sets...OMG!  This was by far the hardest workout yet!!!  I was really starting to fade towards the end but with her motivation and persistence I finished AND I survived (even though my body disagrees)...

Yesterday rocked and included my eggs for breakfast, lunch of sandwich in pita with some baked chips and pico de gallo, and maybe some avocado...(shhhhhh)

a banana with pb, and dinner was a whole wheat/low fat cheese quesidilla b/c I got home late and didn't feel like cooking :)  I bypassed snacks and ice cream (WIN) and it paid off on the scale this morning!!!  I'd like to lose a few more lbs before vacay next week :) 

Tonight DJ and I have dinner with CareFirst...We always have a blast with this crew and is one of my fav perks of my job.  We are going to Chiapparellis and I can't begin to tell you how excited I am about this :)  more on that later :)

Right now it is time for me to get busy :)

A few more days...

I'm not sure exactly what is going on with me and my weight loss but you know what???
I'm not going to worry about it until I get back from vacation :)  Next week we are headed to OC for the week and I CAN'T WAIT!!!  I just have a few more days this week...

Yesterday was gorgeous...
Breakfast was my usual
Lunch was a salad in the cafe (no pic)  And Dinner was out at Bluestone with a very dear friend...I had shrimp tacos and fruit...the tacos were really delicious :)  The shrimp were flash fried with cilantro puree and feta on top...a summer slaw on the bottom.  Mmmmmmmmmmmmm

 This morning as I was leaving...I got to squish on this little munchkin :)

 And this guy woke up to give me some hugs (note: Dominic was still sleeping when I left) :)
Realizing now that Mason looks WAY too grown up for me...He needs to stop growing up...NOW!!  Note to self: talk to him about this tonight!!!  :)

 Pico de gallo (my single fav dip with baked chips)
 and ants on a log (this one is a double decker)
Great Weekend at the pool spending QT with my kiddos :)  Sip and dip with the adults on Friday night...(hence the sweet tea vodka and the jello shots)  Sunday evening date my with amazing 8 year old.  We went to dinner at Panera then to see Diary of a Whimpy Kid...had a blast!!!

Now I'm trying to recover from this morning's workout...
A million sit ups (like the whole way up and down)...a million push ups...and lots of running (including suicides) I can't find a good video of suicides...:(  Sorry

Alright time for me to do it :)

Boot Camp homework:
  • 25 sit ups
  • 25 push ups
  • 25 lunging squats (left)
  • 25 lunging squats (right)
  • one minute push pull (I have no idea how to describe this core exercise but I'll try)
    • you lie on your back with knees to your chest.  Using your arms you try to push your legs away from you...and fight yourself.  It is a SICK core workout...try it :)

The Goggles

I HEART my breakfast!!!
Egg Whites with veggies and my fav part is the ketchup (don't worry I count it)
 Lunch yesterday was at an Indian Buffet.  Mmmmmmmmmm  The Tandori Chicken rocked! (reddish roasted chicken on the bottom right side)
 Dinner was a ravioli bake...so easy.  Just threw some thawed ravioli in a dish with sauce and some motz cheese.  Bake at 350 for 40 minutes and voila!!!  DINNER~!  I had it wth a salad (that didn't make the picture)
 Then we went to the pool to play...Livie found some goggles (I bleached them) and she LOVES to wear them.  I need to get video of her jumping in b/c it is hilarious!!!
Workout this morning was GREAT...Crazy but GREAT!  We had to do burpiees again...

We also did mountain climbers
YUCK!!!
and a whole lot of arm work and lunges :)
It sure sucks while we're doin it but...I feel great after!!!

Tonight is my dad's birthday and SIP and DIP for me and hubby at the pool!

Do "a little"

A message from my trainer...

What 3 “non-routine” things are you going to do today that not only makes you a little uncomfortable, but help move you forward in your career and life? 

A Little Goes a Long Way…

Get out today and do “a little”!
Think about this…How often do you think about going out for a walk, run, or bike ride and then convince yourself that you don’t have time or that you are too tired to do it?

You may be thinking that your workout has to be this big, long, strenuous hour that takes all your energy in order to be worth it. This is not the case! So often we decide to go all or nothing. Whatever happened to “a little”? I like the idea of “a little”. Doing a little everyday goes a long way. Even just stretching in your living room and doing a few core exercises.

If your energy is low or you only have about 30 minutes to exercise, then do “a little”. I was feeling the same way yesterday where I just didn’t have the energy for my planned workout and instead I did “a little” of what I planned and felt great. I almost threw it all to the wind and said “I just can’t today” but then in my mind I thought, “well, a little is better than nothing”.

Take this approach in your own life and accept that somedays you will do “a little” to maintain your fitness and other days you will do a lot. Don’t miss the middle man here and give up completely on your workouts.The benefits of moving your body, getting the increased blood flow to the heart, and producing a metabolic boost are still accomplished with “a little” each day!

I had a veggie sausage and provolone pita for breakfast

  turkey and cheese pita for lunch
 with a salad.  What is it with frisee lettuce??  I've said it before but it is WORTHLESS :) 
 Dinner was Tacos...Delish!

Gassy Monday and more...

BAHAHAHA!!   I crack myself up!!!
Monday there was a gas leak near our building which evacuated us for the day...  read more here.  Although it was kinda scary as it was happening it meant I got to spend a GREAT DAY at the pool with my family and some great Friends!!!  Thanks CRAZY construction crew :)

 Pictures have been sparse this week (for some reason)  so nothing too exciting on the food front to report...this was my snack of fruit and cheese from yesterday :)

Last night we went to the pool and ended up seeing all our friends.  It was just Mason and I and he had a blast while I chatted then read.  I HAD to snap this picture of this AMAZING cloud.  It is probably the coolest cloud I've ever seen!!!

We had a blast then I crashed to prep for the 5am alarm.  Class was really great this morning we worked a full body circuit with LOTS of cardio!!!  We also took before pictures (but I guess it is really just in the middle pictures) LOL  ...I'm not going to post them though.  I'm going to wait until the afters and do the side by sides :)  I think :)

Alright...now onto my battle!  The battle of hunger!!!!!  My metabolism is working but that is making me SUPER HUNGRY!!!  I feel like I just can't get enough.  I'm eating lots of protein and everything...I just can't seem to get full.  Plus...after this weekend of Pizza and more Pizza, I can't seem to get back into healthy food:(  I know I can do this...I just need to find the groove again.  I know I will, it is just a matter of time.

Time to make this day great!
